Guy’s not Lobo’s guy,Supernatural’s Spin-off, the iPad and more in today’s geek news.



Sam Worthington, Jake in Avatar and Marcus in Terminator Salvation, has been cast as the Original Vampire himself in the upcoming Dracula Year Zero. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

Guy Ritchie, director of Sherlock Holmes, is no longer going to direct the film adaptation of the DC Comics character Lobo, instead he will focus on Sherlock Holmes 2. (via The Los Angeles Times)

Warner Bros. has chosen Sony Pictures Imageworks to do the visual on Green Lantern. Sony Pictures Imageworks has also done work on Superman Returns and Watchmen. (via Variety)


Supernatural is getting a spin-off on the web. The new series, based on the Ghostfacers characters in the series, will be released on and will consist of three ten minute episodes. (via Variety)

NBC has ordered a pilot episode of a new series titled Cape. It is “set in a fictionalized version of Los Angeles, it centers on a former cop framed for a crime who becomes the Cape, a masked hero, to clear his name and reunite with his son.” (via The Hollywood Reporter)

Microsoft is apparently planning on releasing Windows on July 1, 2011 and the new 2012 versions of Windows Server and Office the next day. (via Electronista)
