Who is the Human Target?

Christopher Chase, aka the Human Target, is a DC Comics character created by Len wein and Carmine Infantino. He first appeared in Action Comics #419 in 1972. The character was featured in the backup stories of both Action Comics and Detective Comics and did not have his own comic until 1991, when DC Comics released The Human Target Special, a one shot issue written by Mark Verheiden, which was released to promote the then upcoming TV series. Then in 1999, DC Comics, under their Vertigo Imprint, released a Human Target miniseries written by Peter Milligan. The sucessĀ  of the mini series resulted in a monthly book by Vertigo , that ran from October 2003 to June 2005.

Christopher Chase has had a total of two television series. The first aired on ABC in the summer of 1992. The show starred Rick Springfield, singer of the song Jessie’s Girl, as Chase. The show only lasted one season.

The second series will begin airing tonight on Fox and stars Mark Valley, best known for playing Brad Chase on Boston Legal, as Chase.
