Superman, Lobo, Lana on Chuck, and a Kick-Ass date on today’s geek news.

Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. has hired Guy Ritchie, director of the upcoming Sherlock Holmes film, to direct a live action adaptation of the DC Comics character Lobo, a galactic bounty hunter. Variety also gave this description of the upcoming film, that is to start production beginning of next year:

In the film, he is a seven-foot tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and heavily muscled anti-hero who drives a pimped out motorcycle, and lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc. Lobo teams with a small town teenaged girl to stop the creatures.

Lionsgate announced on through their twitter account that Kick-Ass, based on the comic of the same name, has been given a release date of April 16, 2010.
