Spielberg has Pirates, Superman on Chuck, Cloverfield 2?, and more in today’s geek news.

Steven Spielberg has signed on to produce, and possible direct, a film based on the last novel by Michael Crichton, author of Jurassic Park and creator of ER. The novel, entitled Pirate Latitude, is being adapted by David Koepp, who also adapted the first two Jurassic Park movies from the novel by Crichton. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

Has a viral campaign for a Cloverfield sequel started, or is the following video a hoax. I’m leaning towards hoax, but I could be wrong.
