Galactica reboot, Tosh.0 renewed, Gojira, and more in today’s geek news.

Sorry for not updating Wednesday or Thursday. I didn’t get time to update but there’s some good news today.

Bryan Singer is going to direct a Battlestar Galactica film for Universal. The film will not be in continuity with the recent remake or the spin-off Caprica, but may be a sequel to the original series, which he had planned to develop for TV in the early 2000’s. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

The Wolverine sequel has a writer. Christopher McQuarrie, who was an uncredited writer on the first X-Men film and won an Oscar for the script of The Usual Suspects. This can’t possible be as bad as the last one, can it? Oh wait, I thought that about the last X-Men film. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

A reboot to the American Godzilla franchise is in the very early stages of development at Legendary Pictures. (via Bloody Disgusting)


Comedy Central has canceled Reno 911. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

And has also picked up Tosh.0 for another season that will start in October. (via The Hollywood Repoter)


A judge has ruled that Microsoft cannot sell Word. The ruling is for a case in which i4i had sued Microsoft over implementation of custom xml in Word. (via CNet News)

Les Paul, inventor of the electric guitar and considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time, passed away Wednesday at age 94. (via Rolling Stone)
