Natalie Portman’s in Thor, Thor’s plot, outlets steal data, and hooray for communism in today’s geek news.

Back in March, I posted the news that Natalie Portman was cast in an unknown role in Thor and Marvel neither comfirmed or denied that news. Now, today Marvel released a press release saying that she has been cast in the upcoming super-hero film and revealed that she will be playing Jane Foster, a nurse who help Dr. Donald Blake (Thor) and is his love interest. You can read the press release in its entirety here. The press release also gives a description of the plot of Thor that follows:

Marvel Studios expands its film universe with a new type of super hero: “Thor.” This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

You can now use electrical outlets and lasers to steal data from a computer. And now I’m extremely paranoid. (via Network World)
