Reynolds is the Green Lantern

July 11, 2009

It’s official, Ryan Reynolds has been cast as Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern, according to Variety. This is very surprising for two reasons, one he recently played Wade¬† Wilson, aka Deadpool, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and is supposed to reprise the role in a Deadpool movie. And two, he was cast years ago as Wally West, the third Flash, in a movie that never got anywhere. Reynolds beat out Justin Timberlake and Bradley Cooper for the role.

Now Ryan Reynolds was not who I wanted to be cast in this role. I would have perfered either David Boreanaz or Nathan Fillion. David Boreanaz I have wanted for the past few years, and Nathan Fillion was my second favorite since I watch Firefly and Serenity and I defy anyone to not believe Nathan Fillion would be great after watching this fan made trailer.

Even though I am not a fan of this casting right now, it may change by the time the film comes out in 2011 because he is a good actor and will hopefully do justice to the role. And besides he’s better than Jack Black for the role.
