Google has an OS, West Virginia sues Comcast, US got DOSed, England’s got sperm, and more in today’s geek news.


We now have a date for when D&D online will become a free MMORPG. Starting August 6, 2009 D&D online will no longer require a monthly fee. (via Joystiq)

Joystiq may or may not have the complete track list for Guitar Hero 5, but I’m very excited for it now.


On July 4th, several government websites were taken down by a denial of service attack.The Secret Service, Federal Trade Commission, Treasury Department and the Transportation Department were all taken down by the DOS attack for a few days. Several South Korean government sites were also attacked. North Korea is thought to be behind the attacks. (via The Washington Post)

Google announced on their blog, that they are creating an Operating System. The OS, called the Google Chrome OS, will be open-sourced, designed for netbooks, and will be available to consumers in the latter half of 2010.

Poor Yahoo. Yahoo has announced their new service, Search Pad, which is basically Google Notebook. (via Yahoo Press Room)

West Virginia is suing Comcast, finally someone is, over their tying their cable box to their services. (via Ars Technica)

British scientists have created artificial sperm to allow infertile men to have children. Okay then. (via Newsvine)
